Back to School: Part 3

\We have previously discussed tips and tricks for high school students hitting the open road for the first time. Now, it’s time for us to give our college students a little advice. Whether you are staying in Brevard County or leaving to explore new lands, it is important that you are fully prepared for move in day.

The idea of freshman year may strike fear into many incoming students, but this is an amazing time in your life where you learn and grow. You will experience many life-altering things in the next four years, so don’t let the thoughts of freshman year get to you. At Cassels Garage we want to help our customers be as prepared as possible to begin their college journey. Below we have listed some tips and tricks we think will help you feel more prepared before you make this exciting trip.

Don’t Pack Your Whole Closet

You may feel the need to pack everything you have ever owned in your entire life. Just don’t. Freshman dorm rooms are typically on the small side. So try to pack only the things you need and leave the rest of it at home. You will be glad you didn’t over pack when you don’t have to make a million trips back and forth between your car and your new room. You may also be sharing this space with someone else, so try not to overdo it.  You can always get something you need once you are there or get whatever when you go back home for breaks.

Make a plan

It is important to have a general plan of how the move in day will go. If you have a roommate then discuss what time each of you is going to be moving in. It may work better to plan separate times to move in. This would give both you and your prospective roommate a chance to get everything set up and have some last moments with their family, friends, loved ones, etc. Make a plan and enjoy your move in day.

Get your car checked out

If you plan on bringing your car to college with you, it would be in your best interest to get your car fully serviced. It is a great idea to have a garage take a look at everything before you hit the college road. Get your oil changed, brakes checked, tires replaced or rotated, and anything else your vehicle may need.

Cassels Garage in Melbourne is here to help you with any and all of your car servicing needs. Come see us today to get your car college ready!
