Ways to Give Back this Holiday Season

Published on January 8, 2018

As the saying goes, it is now the ‘season of giving’ here in Melbourne, FL. As we deck our halls and trim our trees to prepare for the holidays, we can get lost in it all. It is important to not forget one of the reasons for the season: giving. Giving doesn’t have to just be about giving presents. This holiday season, we at Cassels Garage want to challenge the people of Brevard County to find a way to give back to our community. For inspiration, we have listed a few ways that you can give back to others this holiday season.

Donate food and clothing to shelters close to you.

Gather up clothes you no longer wear and non-perishable foods. Put everything you don’t want or need into a box throughout the next couple of weeks and then drop your box off at a shelter near you. And if you want to donate more, the shelters can always use extra hygiene products.

Donate children’s clothing and toys to the Salvation Army

Brighten a little one’s holiday season by providing children’s clothing and toys to a shelter or the Salvation Army.

Volunteer at your local soup kitchen

This is a busy time for soup kitchens and they are always in need of help. So, give your local Brevard County soup kitchen a call to find out how you can help.

Pick up someone’s tab.

This is an easy one and will make someone’s day. It doesn’t have to be a big deal, just pay it forward when and if you are able.

Be a Bellringer for the Salvation Army

This is a huge season for the Salvation Army, so volunteer to be a bell ringer. If you don’t want to do it alone, get a group of people together. You can enjoy each other’s company while also raising money for a great cause.

Donate your time

Donating your time to a charity or organization in need is a great way to give back if you are unable to give financially.

Bring goodie bags to your local hospital or nursing home.

There are many people who spend the holidays alone due to medical needs, so show them your love with goodie bags or even just hug.

Wherever you choose to give back this holiday season, at Cassels Garage we want you to get there safely. Come by and see us today to make sure your vehicle is ready to streets this holiday season.
